A 27-year-old man from Newbridge, Wales, has been jailed for supplying over £1 million worth of cocaine in the Avon and Somerset area.
Alex O’Gorman’s arrest followed a routine traffic stop in Weston-super-Mare in January 2024, during which police discovered multiple 1kg blocks of cocaine hidden in the boot of a car. The vehicle was driven by a woman who was subsequently convicted and imprisoned for drug supply in March 2025.
Following this breakthrough, Avon and Somerset Police launched a detailed investigation that traced the drugs back to O’Gorman. Evidence revealed that he was not only responsible for the cocaine found during the January stop but also linked to an earlier 10kg shipment seized in October 2023.

O’Gorman was arrested in February 2023. Upon searching his property and vehicle, police uncovered over 1.36kg of cocaine, packaged in snap bags, with an approximate street value of £108,800. Alongside the drugs, officers also seized scales, deal bags, gloves, a quantity of cash, and a knuckle duster.
He admitted to charges including being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug, possession with intent to supply, and possession of an offensive weapon. Today, at Taunton Crown Court, O’Gorman was sentenced to eight years in prison.
Detective Chief Inspector Ben Lavender, deputy head of the serious and organised crime team, praised the investigation: “Alex O’Gorman was responsible for supplying a vast amount of cocaine into our community. Through meticulous work, we linked him to multiple major drug hauls and have successfully put an end to his illegal activities. His possession of significant quantities at arrest demonstrates his continued commitment to this criminal trade.”
