Daughter’s Emotional Plea to Missing Father: “I Want You to Know Your Grandchildren”

Since 1997, Stevie Barry from Weston-super-Mare has been searching for her father, Andrew Barry, who vanished without a trace. Now 35 years old and a mother of four, Stevie’s heartfelt plea is simple: she wants her father to know he is loved and that he has grandchildren waiting for him.

Andrew, also known as Andy, disappeared more than two decades ago after remarrying in the late 1990s. Stevie has tirelessly explored every avenue to find him—contacting the police, Interpol, missing persons organizations, and reaching out to his old friends and former partners. Despite her efforts, he remains missing.

Police records indicate Andrew was last heard from in 2012. Over the years, Stevie has uncovered bits of his history, including time spent in rehabilitation centers in Weston-super-Mare, Taunton, and Cornwall. He reportedly registered at a Taunton job center in 2002 and sought mental health counseling in 2004. However, no NHS records show recent medical appointments or prescriptions.

Friends describe Andrew as charismatic, with a tattoo of an ex-wife’s face on his back and a skull wearing a hat tattooed on his arm. They also recall the love he had for Stevie, calling her the “apple of his eye.” Stevie struggles to understand why he hasn’t reached out if he knew she was searching for him.

“I feel that if he knew I was looking for him, he would reach out. He would absolutely bend over backwards to get in touch,” Stevie confides. Despite the pain of not knowing, she continues her search, driven by hope that someone, somewhere, might hold the key to his whereabouts.

Andrew will turn 63 this weekend, and Stevie fears he could be homeless or isolated, unaware just how deeply he is missed. “There’s no malice on my part—I’m looking for him out of love and hope. I want to know he’s okay, that he knows he’s loved and missed.”

With four grandchildren—from a 17-year-old to a one-year-old—Stevie worries about the precious time lost with her father. Her message is clear: “I don’t want him to miss out any more time, whatever time he has left.”
