Daring Campers Praise Extra Glastonbury Space for Improved Safety

Charli XCX has once again drawn massive crowds to the Other Stage at Glastonbury Festival. Despite concerns about potential overcrowding similar to past Avril Lavigne performances, the “daring” campers who pitch their tents opposite the stage at Oxlyers report that the additional space has made a significant difference.

Earlier this week, we spoke with festival-goers who annually brave setting up their tents right in front of Oxlyers, just across the walkway from Glastonbury’s second largest stage. We caught up with them again during Charli XCX’s highly anticipated set, which attracted one of the biggest audiences at this year’s festival.

In response to last year’s challenges, Glastonbury organizers moved the camping area back and expanded the audience space. Despite the large turnout, the crowd is much more spread out, especially toward the rear of this new, larger section.

Nicki Pidduck, sitting with her son-in-law Dave Brady outside their tent, described the scene as “bloody brilliant.” She added, “What’s happened before is you’ve had people on the tents, so this feels a lot safer.”
