Daring Adventurers Abseiling Down Bath Abbey

Adventurous locals will have the chance to abseil down the historic Bath Abbey this summer in a thrilling event for charity. Named the ‘Leap of Faith’ abseil, participants will ascend 212 steps to the top of the tower before descending 49 meters, all while taking in breathtaking views of the city below on Friday, June 13 and Saturday, June 14.

The Reverend Canon Guy Bridgewater, Rector of Bath Abbey, expressed his excitement, stating, “Abseiling from the Abbey’s iconic tower is guaranteed to be an extraordinary experience. By taking this leap for charity, participants are making a meaningful contribution, and we are immensely grateful for their adventurous spirit and support.”

Nick Mayo, CEO of Genesis Trust, also shared his enthusiasm, “We are thrilled to host the Leap of Faith! Abseil once again in 2025. Following the success of previous years, we look forward to the generous support of the brave and adventurous individuals from Bath in backing Genesis Trust and Bath Abbey once more.”

All participants are required to raise a minimum of £150 for The Genesis Trust and Bath Abbey. The Genesis Trust provides aid to local individuals facing homelessness, addiction, and other vulnerabilities, offering critical services such as a food bank and a crisis day center.

Bath Abbey, reliant on donations without regular government or church funding, works to maintain the preservation of Bath’s iconic medieval landmark for future generations.

The entry fee for the ‘Leap of Faith’ abseil is £45, and participants must be at least 12 years old and weigh up to 20 stone. While there is no upper age limit, attendees should be prepared for a challenging climb to the top of the tower. Those interested can sign up for the Leap of Faith online.
