A tragic collision on the A350 near the Lacock National Trust site claimed the life of a 64-year-old cyclist early this morning.
The incident occurred around 5 a.m. on January 20, when the cyclist was struck by a car. Wiltshire Police confirmed they have informed the cyclist’s next of kin and extended their condolences during this difficult time.
Authorities arrested a 38-year-old woman at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. She has also been charged with causing serious injury by drug driving and remains in custody pending further investigation.

Road closures on the A350 remain in effect in both directions between Whitehall Garden Centre and Melksham Road to facilitate the ongoing inquiry.
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team at 01225 694597 or email [email protected], referencing log number 24 dated January 20.
The National Trust has advised visitors to expect travel delays due to the accident and to check current traffic updates before visiting Lacock. As of 4:30 p.m., traffic-monitoring service Inrix reports the road closure persists with slow-moving traffic in the area.
