A man in his 50s was assaulted inside a convenience store in Taunton, Somerset, on Monday, August 18. The assault occurred just before 9 p.m. at a shop on East Reach and involved two members of the public.
Avon and Somerset Police responded promptly, arriving within 10 minutes of the call, but the suspect had already fled the scene. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries and has since been discharged.
In a swift response, police arrested a man in his 30s just before 8:40 p.m. on Tuesday, August 19. He is currently being held on suspicion of wounding with intent.

A police spokesperson stated, “A man remains in custody today, Wednesday, August 20, following an assault in a Taunton shop on Monday night. The injured individual has thankfully been released from hospital after receiving treatment.”
