Crash During Taunton Police Chase Sends One to Hospital

A high-speed police chase in Taunton ended in a collision that left two people injured, with one still hospitalized weeks after the crash.

The incident occurred around 11:20 p.m. on Monday, May 11, at the junction of Roman Road and Hamilton Road. A Peugeot Partner van involved in a police pursuit collided with a Nissan Note, causing extensive front-end damage to the van and injuries to both Nissan occupants.

Avon and Somerset Police reported that officers were responding to a separate incident with blue lights activated when the van driver fled at speed, running a red light at the junction. The vehicle was pursued along Blackbrook Way, Hamilton Road, Roman Road, Lambrook Way, and Bridgwater Road before the collision.

The two individuals in the Nissan sustained back injuries, which are not considered life-threatening or life-changing. One remains in stable condition at the hospital, while the other has been discharged and is continuing recovery at home. Police continue to maintain contact with both.
