Weeks after a police chase in Taunton ended in a crash, one of the injured parties remains hospitalized. The collision involved a Peugeot Partner van and a Nissan Note at the junction of Roman Road and Hamilton Road.
The incident occurred around 11:20 p.m. on Monday, May 11. Avon and Somerset Police are urging witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to come forward to assist with their investigation.
According to a police spokesperson, officers were responding to an unrelated call with blue lights activated when the van driver sped off and ran a red light at a junction. A pursuit ensued as the vehicle failed to stop, ultimately culminating in a collision with the Nissan on Roman Road.

The van’s route during the chase reportedly included Blackbrook Way, Hamilton Road, Roman Road, Lambrook Way, and Bridgwater Road. The collision caused extensive front-end damage to the van.
Both occupants of the Nissan sustained back injuries in the crash. While their injuries are not considered life-threatening or life-changing, one individual remains hospitalized in stable condition, and the other has been discharged to recover at home. Police continue to maintain contact with them.
