Residents of Bath and Midsomer Norton are being asked for their opinion on street drinking as part of the local effort to target anti-social behavior following the consumption of alcohol.
The Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPOs) for Bath and Midsomer Norton will enable the authorities to continue addressing the anti-social behavior associated with the possession and consumption of alcohol in these areas. The consultation launched on July 8 seeks the input of residents on the proposed renewal of these legal orders.
The PSPOs aim to keep people safe by addressing antisocial behavior and would not make it a criminal offense to consume alcohol within the restricted areas. They are intended to target activities that disrupt the peace and negatively impact the local community’s quality of life in public places.

The proposed PSPO would include car parks, public parks, and streets, among other public spaces to which the public has access. The existing PSPOs are set to expire in September, and residents can respond to the consultations up to August 16.
Councillor Tim Ball, cabinet member for Neighbourhood Services, emphasized the council’s commitment to maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for residents and visitors. He urged residents to participate in the consultation to express their support or concerns regarding the PSPOs.
