Cosy Café near Somerset hospital granted alcohol licence

A charming café near the Somerset hospital, run by Jason and Louise Moore, has been given the green light to serve alcohol to its patrons. Located on Middle Path in Crewkerne, the Cosy café now has the option to offer alcohol for on-site consumption during specified hours on certain days of the week, as approved by the Somerset Council’s licensing sub-committee south following a meeting in Yeovil on April 25.

The Moores, expressing their deep connection to the town, shared their vision of creating a welcoming establishment. Jason Moore emphasized the effort invested in renovating the building, which was previously vacant and deteriorating, to provide a pleasing environment for nearby residents and visitors alike. The café plans to expand its offerings to include afternoon teas, tapas, wine tasting events, and “creams teas with a fizz.”

While the proposed licence raised concerns among some local residents and the Crewkerne Town Council regarding potential noise and parking issues, others voiced their support for the initiative. Rachel Morris, a longtime resident, highlighted the significance of backing local businesses and the positive impact of the café’s atmosphere on the neighborhood.
