The iconic ruins of Corfe Castle are set to come alive once again as the Love It Local Food and Drink Festival returns for a lively weekend celebrating the Isle of Purbeck’s rich culinary and craft heritage. Taking place on Saturday, July 12, and Sunday, July 13, this vibrant event transforms the castle’s outer bailey into a bustling marketplace brimming with over 25 stalls.
Visitors can indulge in a diverse selection of local delights, from small-batch rum and botanical liqueurs to wood-fired pizza and award-winning cheeses. The festival showcases a myriad of Dorset specialties, including artisanal cheeses, chutneys, honey, shortbread, and handcrafted liqueurs. Hot food options feature Thai green curry, paella, and fresh seafood from Swanage Bay Fish, available on Sunday. Those with a sweet tooth will enjoy brownies, sorbets, and dairy ice cream, complemented by expertly brewed coffee and refreshing cider.
Beyond food, an arts and crafts marquee offers an array of handmade treasures such as driftwood jewelry, seaglass art, Dorset landscape prints, and garden textiles. Local authors will be on hand, along with practical services like knife sharpening.

Entertainment is a highlight, with continuous live music provided by Purbeck Sounds Radio and performers including Dorset Phil, Tim Lacey, Karl Latimer, and the sea shanty group, the Wareham Whalers.
Families are invited to explore the medieval ruins through the “Flight of the Castle” quest, a fun activity designed to discover the birds inhabiting this historic site.
Eoin McDowell, Experience and Visitor Programming Manager at Corfe Castle, expressed enthusiasm, saying, “Purbeck’s artisan scene is exceptional, and the festival brings a vibrant, joyful spirit to the castle grounds.”
Malcolm Lewis-Fry of Love It Local added, “Corfe Castle is the perfect setting to showcase the incredible food and drink from across the Isle of Purbeck. Visitors can expect great food, lively music, and stunning views.”
The festival runs from 10am to 5pm on both days. Admission is charged as usual, with free entry for National Trust members. No advance booking is necessary.
