Controversy Surrounds Music Festival Relocation to Somerset without Refunds

The organisers of the annual music festival, Festival on the Hills, have faced criticism from attendees after announcing a venue change from Honiton Showground in Devon to Taunton Racecourse in Somerset. Scheduled to take place from May 29 to June 1, the festival featured a lineup including Dave Pearce, Dick & Dom, and Ultrabeat.

The decision, communicated on the festival’s Facebook page on March 5, cited limited alternatives for the change and expressed intentions to provide free shuttle buses between the two locations. However, the festival’s terms and conditions state a no-refund policy for venue alterations, offering refunds only in the event of cancellation.

Notably, this marks the fifth edition of the festival, with two prior events hosted at Honiton Showground, as reported by DevonLive.

A festival spokesperson explained, “We had little choice but to seek a new venue due to increased costs and time constraints. Taunton Racecourse, less than 20 miles away, will still offer camping facilities and parking, and we are in discussions with bus companies for complimentary shuttle services.”

Amid the backlash, supporters commended the efforts to ensure the festival’s continuity and expressed anticipation for the upcoming event, featuring both renowned artists and local talents.

The festival’s refund policy, however, has drawn significant disapproval, with attendees voicing dissatisfaction and concern over the lack of refund provisions for the venue change.
