Controversial Irish Band Kneecap’s Plymouth Gig Announcement Sparks Outrage 66 Minutes After Eden Project Show Cancellation

Controversial Irish rap group Kneecap has found themselves in the eye of the storm once again as they announced a new gig at Plymouth Pavilions merely 66 minutes after their scheduled performance at the Eden Project in Cornwall was unexpectedly canceled. The trio has been under intense scrutiny in recent weeks following a string of controversies, with calls for their removal from the Glastonbury Festival line-up gaining traction.

The Eden Sessions in Cornwall took to social media to convey the cancellation of Kneecap’s show scheduled for July 4, 2025, citing “unforeseen circumstances.” This announcement was swiftly followed by news from Plymouth Pavilions confirming a gig on the same day and igniting further uproar.

Amid the tumult, Kneecap has faced mounting pressure to be removed from the Glastonbury line-up. Despite this, the Irish rap ensemble is still set to perform at the Somerset festival this summer. The recent turn of events has further exacerbated the controversy surrounding the band, stemming from a previous incident where one of their members appeared to suggest the killing of Tory MPs. Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch has called for the group’s ban, adding fuel to the fire.

In response, Kneecap issued a statement on social media, expressing regret over the incident and emphasizing their rejection of the notion that they would incite violence against any individual. The trio maintained that their message has always been one of love, inclusion, and hope, and they expressed solidarity with the families of MPs who have been victims of violence.
