Team Bath Netball enters the 2026 NXT Gen League season with renewed confidence and ambition as they prepare to face London Pulse at the Team Bath Arena this Friday, January 23rd. Following a successful runner-up finish last season and a productive pre-season training block, the Blue & Gold team is eager to seize the momentum in front of a roaring four-figure home crowd.
For the second consecutive year, Team Bath has the honor of hosting the league’s opening fixture. This season’s opener promises added excitement with the debut of the Super Shot—a new rule allowing shooters to score two points from a designated area on the edge of the shooting circle during the final five minutes of each quarter. This innovation is set to add a fresh tactical dimension to games.
Joint Head Coach Natalie Roddy, alongside Anya Le Monnier, attributes the team’s strong preparation to continuity, with 12 returning players from the 2025 squad joining this year’s 17-strong roster. “We feel further ahead than we were at this stage last year,” Roddy said. “Our goal since starting pre-season in October has been to build on last summer’s success, and we’ve made great progress. The squad looks strong, committed, and the atmosphere is fantastic.”

Team Bath has demonstrated promising form in pre-season friendlies against Nottingham Forest and Cardiff Dragons, but Roddy acknowledges the true test lies in their upcoming match against London Pulse. Known for their own player development programme, Pulse provides a formidable challenge, making the fixture a key marker for Team Bath’s early season ambitions.
“We’re determined to start with a win,” Roddy added. “No matter the outcome, we know we will grow throughout the season. Last year, we defeated every team at least once, and that remains our benchmark. The players are clear: winning the league is the ultimate ambition.”
The introduction of the Super Shot excites Roddy, who believes her shooters are well-prepared for its tactical demands. New recruit Lucy Herdman, noted for her long-range shooting, has been instrumental in guiding teammates through the new tactical approach. “Super Shot brings a new dynamic and a strategic layer to the game, making the league even more thrilling,” Roddy explained. “Lucy’s experience and generosity in sharing her insights have boosted the team’s confidence.”
The opening match against Pulse features a notable player, former Team Bath Super League and NXT Gen centre Phoebe Maslen. Sponsored by Hengistbury, this game kicks off a week of back-to-back home fixtures, with Nottingham Forest visiting the following Friday, January 30th. Both matches begin at 7pm.
