Comprehensive List of Freebies for Older People in 2026, Including Free TV Licence

Recent government data reveals that approximately 1.4 million people receive payments from a benefit scheme that offers more than just financial support. Among these, numerous older adults could also access various freebies and additional perks.

Pension Credit, a benefit managed by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), remains unclaimed by around 910,000 eligible families, according to the latest figures. Couples receiving this benefit can get up to £346.60 per week on average.

To qualify for Guarantee Pension Credit, individuals must have reached State Pension age (currently 66) and have a weekly income below the government’s minimum living threshold. Eligibility criteria also allow for higher payments if you are a carer, disabled, or have specific housing costs.
