Writhlington School recently hosted a significant event aimed at addressing the issue of knife crime within the community. The event, organized by the Bath & North East Somerset Violence Reduction Partnership (VRP), provided parents and carers with the opportunity to gain insight into the dangers associated with knife crime.
The objective of the evening was to increase awareness of the prevalent issues surrounding knife crime and to equip families with the knowledge to make well-informed decisions, ultimately ensuring the safety of young individuals.
Councillor Gavin Heathcote, the prospective Independent MP for the new Frome and East Somerset constituency, commended the Violence Reduction Partnership for orchestrating the crucial event. “Knife violence must stop,” Heathcote stated, emphasizing the importance of parental influence in steering youth away from the perils of knife crime. He expressed appreciation for the awareness-raising initiatives and the platform provided for affected individuals to share their firsthand experiences.
