A house in Weston-super-Mare has been secured with a three-month closure order following numerous complaints about anti-social behaviour and drug-related offences. The property, located on George Street, became the focus of repeated concerns from local residents and law enforcement officials alike.
Avon and Somerset Police sought and obtained the closure order at North Somerset Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 14 August. This action was undertaken in collaboration with the property owner, who cooperated to help demonstrate the connection between the dwelling and ongoing anti-social conduct as well as drug use and supply.
PC Kat Davis of the Weston Town Centre Neighbourhood Team commented on the development, stating, “Residents will be relieved to see the property boarded up, and they can take comfort in knowing that anyone attempting to enter will be committing an offence and face further prosecution.”

She acknowledged the distress and frustration caused by the prolonged issues, emphasising the police’s commitment to addressing such matters: “We understand the impact this unacceptable behaviour has had and hope this measure reassures the community. We are grateful to those who supported the investigation, as their courage was crucial in securing this order.”
The closure order is issued under Section 80 of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014. Breaching the order by entering or remaining in the property can lead to a fine, imprisonment for up to six months, or both. Authorities hope this decisive action will contribute to restoring normality and safety for local residents.
