The Clifton Suspension Bridge will be closed to drivers and cyclists for one night this week as filming takes place for a “well-known” BBC drama. The closure is scheduled from 7:30 pm to 1:00 am on Thursday, November 27. However, pedestrians will still have access to the bridge during this time.
Although the specific drama remains under wraps, the production has prompted official traffic diversions. Vehicles will be rerouted via Bridge Valley Road, Brunel Way, and A369 Rownham Hill. Notably, traffic following these signed diversion routes will be exempt from Bristol City Council’s Clean Air Zone charges during the closure.
Bridge Master Trish Johnson provided insight into the arrangements: “We are closing the bridge to accommodate filming of a well-known drama, scheduling it in the evening to minimize disruption. Pedestrian access will remain available, but cyclists are asked to dismount and walk as only one narrow footway will be open. Cyclists are encouraged to avoid using the bridge if possible during this time.”

The Clifton Suspension Bridge Trust extends apologies for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure and hopes that keeping the bridge open during peak hours will reduce disruption for commuters.
