Chilton Bridge School, a private boarding institution in Yeovil catering to children and young people with special needs, is preparing to expand its enrollment as revealed in a recent Ofsted report. Currently, the school charges fees exceeding £64,000 per year and supports 91 pupils.
The latest Ofsted inspection highlights the school’s intention to increase its pupil roll to 130 in response to growing demand from local authorities. Inspectors praised the school’s thorough and well-considered plan to accommodate this growth, stating, “The school is requesting a material change to increase pupil numbers… The proprietor’s rationale and plans to accommodate the material change are well considered and thoroughly planned for.”
Currently admitting students from age 10, Chilton Bridge intends to lower the entry age to eight, reflecting increased demand for places at younger ages. The leadership has carefully developed appropriate curricula and ensured they have the necessary staff expertise to support the younger pupils effectively.
