Cheddar Reservoir will be closed to the public from June 21 to June 24 as a precaution against the upcoming extreme heat. Bristol Water announced the closure, citing the lack of shade along the reservoir’s paths and the risks posed by high temperatures.
The closure is part of Bristol Water’s routine safety measures to prevent accidents and reduce strain on emergency services, which are anticipated to be heavily impacted during the heatwave.
“With limited shade and soaring temperatures, we want to ensure everyone stays safe. The water might look inviting on hot days, but it’s incredibly dangerous. We aim to avoid adding pressure on emergency responders during an already challenging time,” said Bristol Water.
