Alan Cooper, a resident of Kemm Close, Cheddar, has been given a suspended prison sentence following charges related to attempting sexual communication with underage girls. The 78-year-old appeared at North Somerset Magistrates’ Court on July 31 and pleaded guilty to two counts of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child under 16.
The offences took place over a period from May 13 to May 19 last year. According to court records, Cooper intentionally attempted sexual communication with a person he did not reasonably believe to be aged 16 or over. This communication included telling the child that she “turns you on” and asking if she would touch his erect penis, with the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification.
Upon sentencing, Cooper received a four-month prison sentence suspended for 18 months. Additionally, he was made subject to a sexual harm prevention order and is required to complete 30 rehabilitation activity days. Cooper was also ordered to pay £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and a £154 surcharge.
