Charlotte’s cocktail bar and cafe plans submitted for Bath city centre

Charlotte’s in Bath Street Ltd has submitted an application to Bath and North East Somerset Council for a new premises licence at 3-4 Bath Street in central Bath, where it plans to operate a cocktail bar and cafe under the name Charlotte’s. The premises were previously occupied by the Fly Fitness gym.

The application requests permission to serve alcohol daily from 10am until midnight, extending to 2am on New Year’s Eve. It also seeks approval to provide late night refreshments, including hot food and drinks, from 11pm to midnight every day and until 2am on New Year’s Eve.

Members of the public and responsible authorities have until 21 October 2026 to submit written representations regarding the application. Any comments can be sent by post to Licensing Services, Bath and North East Somerset Council, Lewis House, Manvers Street, Bath BA1 1JG, or by email to [email protected]. Representations may be discussed in open meetings if a hearing is required.

If the licence is granted, Charlotte’s could contribute to Bath’s evening economy by offering extended food and drink options, potentially increasing footfall and supporting local employment. However, there may be concerns related to noise, customer dispersal, and littering during late hours. Those concerned are encouraged to submit submissions that address the licensing objectives set out in the Licensing Act 2003.

Details of any proposed conditions or measures to mitigate such impacts were not disclosed in the public notice. The full application is available for inspection via the council’s public register.

The premises are located at 3-4 Bath Street, Bath BA1 1SB. The notice emphasises that knowingly or recklessly submitting a false statement in connection with a licensing application is an offence, punishable by an unlimited fine upon summary conviction.

Residents and businesses near the site may wish to review the application and respond within the given timeframe. Further announcements will be made should a hearing take place or a decision be made by the council.
