Charli XCX Electrifies Glastonbury with Iconic “Brat” Set on the Other Stage

Charli XCX delivered a show-stopping performance at Glastonbury Festival’s Other Stage on Saturday night, reigniting the spirit of her game-changing sixth studio album, Brat. Her electrifying set drew huge crowds, with fans dancing along in full force.

Reflecting on the impact of her album, Charli opened by asking, “It’s summertime, and I was thinking about last summer — did anyone have a Brat summer?” The question resonated with the energized audience, many of whom embraced the “Brat summer” cultural phenomenon sparked by her music.

Dressed in sleek black sunglasses, knee-high boots, and a bold ensemble, Charli kicked off her set with fan favorites “360” and “Von Dutch.” Building the energy, she launched into the pulsating dance anthem “Club Classics,” inviting fans en route to late-night celebrations at Block9 to join the party.

The 32-year-old pop icon’s 2024 Glastonbury appearance marked a leap from her previous Partygirl set to a major headlining slot, reflecting her meteoric rise over the past year. Alongside new tracks from Brat, she delighted the crowd with hits like “Unlock It (Lock It),” “Party 4 U,” “Vroom Vroom,” and “Speed Drive,” which gained fame as part of the Barbie movie soundtrack.

Charli kept the energy vibrant by spotlighting viral dance moves popularized on TikTok, including the Apple dance previously performed by US singer Gracie Abrams. While collaborators Billie Eilish and Lorde did not join her on stage, Charli performed her versions of “Guess” and “Girl, So Confusing,” connecting deeply with fans through these collaborations.

The climax of her show featured the fan-favorite “I Love It” with Icona Pop, performed amidst a dramatic water shower effect during “Blame It On Your Love.” The spectacle underscored Charli’s flair for blending music with memorable visuals.

In the months leading up to Glastonbury, Charli toured major global festivals including Coachella, Primavera Sound, and London’s Lido Festival, further cementing her reputation as an electrifying live artist.

Brat’s release not only propelled Charli XCX’s music to the top of the charts but also inspired a defining cultural moment, the “Brat summer.” Her critical acclaim culminated in a remarkable haul at the 2024 Brit Awards, where she won five categories including songwriter of the year, album of the year, and song of the year for “Guess” featuring Eilish. This success was preceded by three Grammy wins and recognition as songwriter of the year at The Ivors in May.

Charli XCX’s Glastonbury performance was a vibrant celebration of her artistic evolution and the deep connection she shares with her fans worldwide.
