Charity Cash Boost as Dorset County Show Raises Over £15,000 for Local Causes

The Dorset County Show has once again demonstrated its strong community spirit, raising more than £15,000 for two vital local charities. This year’s fundraising efforts have provided a significant boost to Julia’s House and the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI), both of which offer crucial support to Dorset families and farming communities.

On April 30, Julia’s House received a donation of £8,469.27. The charity provides exceptional care and emotional support to children with life-limiting conditions, along with their families. Martin Edwards, chief executive of Julia’s House, expressed heartfelt gratitude, emphasizing the importance of continuing care for children and their siblings as well as parents coping with these challenging circumstances. “Thanks to the generosity of those at the Dorset County Show, we can keep offering vital services that make a real difference in families’ lives,” he said.

RABI, which supports farming households in financial, emotional, or practical distress, was presented with £7,469.27. Over the past year, RABI has helped more than 1,500 households and provided emergency grants to 12,000 individuals across England and Wales. Zoe Gascoyne, RABI’s regional manager, highlighted the charity’s commitment to confidential and accessible support, stating, “Our 24-hour helpline and dedicated services are here to assist the farming community whenever needed. We sincerely thank everyone involved in the show for their generous support.”

The donations raised reflect our community’s dedication to helping families and farmers alike.”

The Dorset County Show will next take place on September 6 and 7 near Dorchester. Attendees can look forward to a vibrant program featuring attractions such as the Paul Hannam Stunt Show, Atkinsons Action Horses, alpacas, and a variety of local food and drink vendors. Early bird tickets are currently available at discounted rates until June 25.
