Fans of All Creatures Great and Small were thrilled earlier this month to see actor Samuel West return to television. This time, however, West was not acting but presenting alongside his longtime friend Adrian Edmondson. Together, they explored some of Britain’s most beautiful nature reserves during their birdwatching series, Sam & Ade Go Birding.
The three-part show wraps up this week with its final episode airing on April 28, taking viewers to the serene Somerset Levels. Here, Samuel and Adrian search for the elusive bittern, often described as Britain’s loudest and most secretive bird.
While Channel 5 has yet to confirm a second season, the show has received widespread praise, and fans are hopeful it will continue. Samuel West expressed his gratitude on social media, writing, “Thanks for all your kind comments about the series so far. It was a joy to make, and it’s good to know so many people are finding it fun and useful.”

As Sam & Ade Go Birding concludes, Channel 5 has announced its replacement: a new series titled Reuben: Life in the Dales, returning on May 5 at 8 pm. The show follows 22-year-old Reuben as he tackles life in the Yorkshire Dales alongside his friends, family, and girlfriend Jess.
The upcoming episode highlights the challenges of building a new sheep pen for a local farmer, with Reuben and his team confronting unexpected obstacles. Meanwhile, Reuben’s younger brothers, Miles and Sidney, put their skills to the test in an intense sheep shearing course, striving to earn the prestigious Blue Seal Shearer’s certificate under their father Clive’s watchful eye.
Fans can also look forward to a heartfelt 70th birthday celebration for Clive, organized by Reuben and Jess. The festivities take place at England’s highest-altitude pub, where family and friends gather to mark the special day with balloons and cheer.
Sam & Ade Go Birding is available to watch now on Channel 5. Reuben: Life in the Dales premieres Tuesday, May 5 at 8 pm.
