Renowned Glastonbury author and campaigner Dr. Lynne Sedgmore CBE has dedicated herself to combating anxiety, particularly in the younger generation. With an extensive background in feminism, life coaching, poetry, and climate activism, she has emerged as a leading voice in addressing mental health concerns exacerbated by climate change worries.
Dr. Sedgmore’s latest book is crafted to assist both young and mature individuals in coping with anxiety, particularly in light of environmental concerns. Having actively participated in environmental and feminist movements since the 1970s, she serves as a bridge between mainstream organizations and spiritual communities. Additionally, she provides coaching for individuals and senior teams in charitable organizations and is leading the Glastonbury Town Deal.
A grandmother to two teenage girls, both grappling with anxiety, Dr. Sedgmore’s efforts primarily focus on the younger generation, often referred to as Gen Z. Furthermore, her advocacy for youth mental health has been showcased on a Channel 4 reality TV show, where she supported young adults facing anxiety related to societal changes.

In her book titled “Presence Activism: A Profound Antidote to Climate Anxiety,” Dr. Sedgmore introduces a new therapeutic approach termed “presence activism,” offering a composed and serene method to alleviate environmental concerns and other anxieties.
In her own words, she expressed, “I was driven to pen this book by deep concerns over the impending climate crisis and societal instability, as well as the escalating levels of anxiety, especially among the younger demographic.”
Dr. Sedgmore’s book introduces her innovative concept of the “Presence Flower” and the “Anxiety Flower,” serving as tools for addressing and alleviating anxiety through resilient internal coping mechanisms. Her aim is to equip individuals with the capacity to confront the challenges of environmental uncertainties.
The audience for her work includes activists seeking a more spiritual approach to activism, intertwined with inner tranquility and fortitude. Scheduled for release in August 2024, Dr. Sedgmore’s book, published by Changemakers Books, offers a compelling resource for those grappling with climate-related anxiety.
