Celebrating the Success of Peasedown St John Primary School

Peasedown St John Primary School in Somerset is celebrating a significant achievement after receiving a “Good” rating in all areas from a recent Ofsted inspection. The two-day inspection involved interactions with students, parents, staff, and school leaders, where the school’s positive culture and high expectations for behavior were highlighted.

The inspectors commended the school for creating a respectful and positive environment, emphasizing the values of curiosity, aspiration, resilience, and empathy. Additionally, they praised the calm and orderly classrooms, as well as the support provided for children with special educational needs. The school’s ambitious curriculum and focus on individual learning needs were also acknowledged.

Teachers were recognized for effectively using assessments to deepen students' knowledge, while students themselves were encouraged to articulate their learning using precise vocabulary. The school’s enrichment opportunities, including various clubs and educational visits, were highlighted, along with the emphasis on personal development and challenging bias and discrimination.

Following the school’s integration into the Midsomer Norton Partnership Trust in 2019, significant improvements have been made, showcasing the commitment of school leaders and staff alongside the support provided by the trust.
