Celebrating 25 Years of Diggerland - A Unique South West Attraction

Diggerland, the UK’s only construction-themed amusement park, is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a remarkable journey from a simple concept to becoming a popular and unique attraction. Founded in Kent in 2000 by business entrepreneur Hugh Edeleanu, the park offers guests the opportunity to operate genuine construction machinery in a safe and enjoyable setting. Since its inception, Diggerland has expanded to multiple locations, offering over 20 attractions and 100 machines, providing a one-of-a-kind experience for visitors of all ages.

The park’s success led to further expansion with new locations in Durham, Devon, and Castleford. The attractions, such as the Dig-a-Round carousel, Skyshuttle, and the gravity-defying Spindizzy, are powered by real, adapted machinery from renowned manufacturers including Komatsu and JCB. Diggerland’s approach of using authentic construction machinery for its rides ensures both safety and excitement for visitors, creating a unique and memorable experience.

Diggerland’s impact extends beyond providing amusement, as it contributes to revitalizing disused industrial spaces and inspiring community growth. By transforming old industrial locations into centers of learning and inspiration, the park has played a significant role in fostering interest in engineering among youth, potentially shaping the future of the industry.

The unique concept of Diggerland crossed the Atlantic in 2014 when Diggerland USA opened in New Jersey, thus introducing American guests to the thrill of operating genuine construction machinery. The park’s commitment to providing an authentic experience has made it a popular choice for educational outings, birthday celebrations, and corporate events.

As Diggerland commemorates its 25th anniversary, it has planned special festivities and exclusive deals to be held throughout the year at all four UK venues, offering visitors an opportunity to join in the celebratory events.
