In the early hours of Sunday, July 6, emergency services rushed to a serious accident in the village of Martock near Yeovil, south Somerset. Just after 12:20 am, a vehicle crashed into a building, trapping an occupant inside.
Firefighters from Martock, Yeovil, and Somerton stations arrived promptly to find the vehicle embedded in the structure with a person trapped inside. Using hydraulic cutting equipment, the fire crew carefully freed the individual and handed them over to waiting paramedics.
The impact caused significant structural damage to the building. To ensure safety, the fire service stabilized the damaged structure by using props to prevent further collapse.

A spokesperson from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service confirmed: “Crews were mobilised following reports of a vehicle driving into a building with a person still inside. Hydraulic cutting tools were essential to safely release the occupant. Due to the building’s damage, crews also secured it with props.”
