What began as a modest gathering of local car enthusiasts has rapidly transformed into a thriving motoring movement across the South West. In April 2023, Talasi May brought together a small group at Greendale Farm Shop, intending a casual meet-up. Little did she know, over 100 cars—from vintage classics to modern performance machines—would turn up, sparking the creation of Cars and Cuppas.
Fast forward to Sunday, September 21: Talasi and her team are preparing for their largest event yet—the Cars and Cuppas Sunday Showcase at Winslade Park. This eagerly anticipated occasion will feature around 500 vehicles lining the manicured grounds of Winslade Manor. The range is vast, from early 20th-century gems to the latest supercars, including the rare and impressive Ferrari 812 Competizione, one of only 999 in existence and valued at £1.7 million.
The showcase isn’t just a display of automobiles; it’s a celebration of community and culture. Specialist sectors will spotlight everything from Porsche and Land Rover to Abarth and Aston Martin. As a Land Rover fan herself, Talasi looks forward especially to the Devon Land Rovers stand, showcasing an eclectic mix of classic and modern models.
Visitors can expect a lively lineup of live presentations, trade displays, and demonstrations throughout the day. Notably, Devon-based luxury timepiece brand Olivier Meylan will unveil an exclusive watch, giving attendees a first look in the UK. To appeal to younger fans, all under-16s receive free entry, emphasizing the event’s family-friendly spirit.
While monthly Greendale Farm meets remain laid-back “cars and coffee” socials, the Winslade Showcase aims higher—a curated festival rivaling the UK’s premier automotive events. Selected vehicles for the main lawn underscore this quality-driven approach, but inclusivity remains key: enthusiasts with cars outside the main display are warmly welcomed.
Beyond car culture, Cars and Cuppas is deeply rooted in giving back. Talasi’s vision includes hospital visits with supercars for children and an annual Christmas Toy Appeal, which has become a cornerstone for local families in need. Donations collected at events like the Winslade Showcase fund this effort, providing gifts, food vouchers, and meaningful support to children and parents facing hardship.
Talasi reflects on her own childhood struggles, which inspire her passion for community support: “Growing up, I experienced tough times and received help from social services and loved ones. This motivates me to give back and help others, especially during the holidays.”
Last year’s appeal brought joy to around 70 children, and this year’s goal is 100. The festive distribution has become a heartwarming convoy of colorful cars delivering toys and donations, creating unforgettable memories for families.
Looking ahead, if the Winslade event succeeds, it could pave the way for larger regional showcases starting in 2026. Talasi also plans to establish the Toy Appeal as a registered charity, amplifying its positive impact year-round.
“The heart of Cars and Cuppas is our community,” Talasi says. “We’re organizers, but it’s the attendees, volunteers, and supporters who make this movement so special.”
As summer fades, the Cars and Cuppas Sunday Showcase offers a perfect final celebration—an extraordinary day to admire stunning cars, build connections, and contribute to a cause greater than themselves. For many, it’s a chance not just to indulge a passion for motoring, but to be part of something genuinely meaningful.
