Local councillors have unanimously approved plans for the expansion of the Batch Nurseries caravan park, situated near Somerset’s Bristol to Exeter railway line. PPM West Coast LLP, based in Taunton, proposed the addition of 20 new pitches and improvements to existing facilities. Somerset Council’s planning committee north backed the plans with the condition of implementing extensive biodiversity enhancements within the site.
The approved proposals include an extension to accommodate the new pitches, as well as the construction of a new laundry room, washroom, and services block. Additionally, a bund will be created to mitigate noise and landscaping will be carried out to achieve a ten per cent biodiversity net gain as per government guidelines.
Morgan Jones, a director at the company, emphasized the transformation of the site, which was previously used for industrial purposes, into an expanded caravan park. The unanimous approval from the committee paves the way for construction work to potentially commence before the year ends.
