CAMRA Launches 2025 Somerset Pub Trail Invitation

Adventure-loving beer enthusiasts are invited to take part in the Campaign for Real Ale’s (CAMRA) 2025 Somerset Pub Trail, running now through Saturday, September 13. This annual event offers a unique opportunity to discover the charm and character of Somerset’s vibrant pub scene.

The Somerset branch of CAMRA has curated a trail spanning 50 pubs across the Levels, West Somerset, Exmoor, and the southern parts of the county. Each participating pub provides official trail leaflets that visitors can get stamped as proof of their visit.

Rewards await those who participate: visitors who explore at least 20 pubs on the list will earn a commemorative T-shirt. Those who double that feat by visiting 40 pubs will be entered into a prize draw to win a meal for two, valued at up to £75, redeemable at any of the trail’s pubs.

While CAMRA is well known for championing cask-conditioned ales, the event welcomes all visitors regardless of whether they consume alcohol. Non-alcoholic beverages such as tea, coffee, or soft drinks qualify towards participation—the focus remains firmly on socialising and enjoying the welcoming atmosphere of Somerset’s pubs.

Trail participants have embraced a variety of ways to navigate the route—some cycling between venues, others taking the scenic West Somerset Railway or even horseback riding. Pubs range from iconic local favourites like the New Inn in Wedmore and the Royal Oak in Withypool on Exmoor to the King’s Head in Crewkerne.

“Visiting just a few pubs can spark new discoveries and friendships,” said a CAMRA Somerset spokesperson. “That’s a welcome reminder in today’s digital world, where face-to-face connections remain invaluable.”

Since the 1970s, CAMRA has campaigned to protect pub culture and promote quality ales across Britain. Today, it stands as one of the country’s largest consumer organisations dedicated to keeping the spirit of the traditional pub alive and thriving.
