CAMRA Announces Somerset Pub Among UK’s Best

A Somerset pub has earned its place among the top 17 pubs in the UK, as designated by CAMRA’s Pub of the Year competition. The Crossways Inn in West Huntspill is celebrated for its exceptional food, wide-ranging beer selection, and status as a must-visit establishment for beer enthusiasts.

CAMRA’s Pub of the Year 2024 winner for the South West region, The Crossways Inn, will now compete with 16 other regional winners for the coveted UK National Pub of the Year award. Judges will assess the atmosphere, decor, service, and most importantly, the quality of live beer, real cider, and perry.

The winner of this esteemed accolade will be announced in January 2025.

The announcement comes at a critical time as the demolition of the Crooked House in Himley, Staffordshire, spotlights the importance of preserving pubs within communities.

Andrea Briers, National Coordinator for the Pub of the Year competition expressed the significance of supporting these establishments and local businesses, emphasizing the growing challenges faced by the licensed trade.

The top 17 winners from different regions and nations showcase the unique charm and offerings of their respective locales, with each pub exhibiting exceptional qualities and community impact. These pubs are essential in preserving national heritage and the spirit of local communities.

CAMRA continues its advocating for pubs, striving to maintain and promote the importance of traditional establishments and high-quality beverages.
