Butlin’s Minehead Raises £28k for Great Ormond Street Hospital in 2025 Fundraising Drive

Butlin’s Minehead has proudly raised an impressive £28,000 for Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) so far in 2025, marking a significant milestone in the holiday giant’s decade-long partnership with the children’s charity.

Across all three Butlin’s resorts, the total fundraising for the year has reached an extraordinary £60,000, as the company sets its sights on raising £1 million by 2028 to support the hospital’s cutting-edge Children’s Cancer Centre.

This summer, Minehead will host its largest Family Fun Day yet on Saturday, August 24, featuring an exciting lineup of entertainment, games, crafts, music, and appearances by beloved Butlin’s characters. Following that, on Wednesday, September 10, eleven Minehead team members will join colleagues from Bognor Regis, Skegness, and the Hertfordshire office for the grueling Pier to Pier challenge — a 26.4-mile charity walk from Brighton Pier to Bognor Regis Pier.

Fundraising efforts in 2025 have been diverse and spirited. Four staff members took to the skies, skydiving from 12,000 feet and raising over £1,800. Former cast member and teen cancer survivor Corey Foster completed the London Marathon, securing £2,000 in donations. Fans also rallied during the Butlin’s Big Weekender festivals, where specially signed guitars were auctioned off; one guitar from the Ultimate 80s Weekender fetched a record £3,000 in June.

Additional events included the annual football tournament and splash pad swimathon at Splash Waterworld, collectively raising over £1,500, alongside bake sales, lost property sales, and bingo nights.

Craig Goodwin, Resort Director at Butlin’s Minehead, said: “I couldn’t be prouder of our team’s dedication to these incredible fundraising efforts. The £28,000 raised here at Minehead reflects the passion and commitment of every staff member involved. Celebrating a decade of partnership with Great Ormond Street Hospital, we’re motivated to keep pushing towards our £1 million goal by 2028, with more exciting events still to come.”

Butlin’s longstanding connection with Great Ormond Street Hospital dates back to 1977, when founder Sir Billy Butlin generously funded the UK’s first paediatric CT scanner. The official partnership with the hospital began in 2015, and since then, the holiday company has been a steadfast supporter of GOSH’s vital work.
