The picturesque town of Bruton in Somerset has undergone a remarkable transformation, attracting comparisons to Notting Hill at its prime in the late 90s.
Despite its modest population of nearly 3,000, Bruton is now home to a number of notable figures. Residents include film director Sam Taylor-Johnson, actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson, renowned theatre impresario Sir Cameron Mackintosh, fashion icons Stella McCartney, Alice Temperley, and Phoebe Philo, as well as musicians Caroline Corr and Dominic Greensmith.
Even pop sensation Lily Allen recently took a break at The Newt, a luxury hotel in Bruton, sharing her serene getaway on Instagram.

The town’s allure extends beyond celebrities, with ex-Tory Chancellor George Osborne investing £1.6 million in a five-bedroom property and a burgeoning culinary scene. Notably, Michelin-starred restaurant Osip, founded by chef Merlin Labron-Johnson, offers a high-end dining experience with prices starting at £120 for lunch or dinner.
While Bruton’s historical charm and property values have skyrocketed, local concerns over affordability and the impact on long-time residents have surfaced, with some feeling the town has become unattainable.
