Bridgwater Carnival Audition Winners Announced: Local Talent Shines at Town Hall Showcase

The Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival concerts are gearing up for an electrifying autumn season, spotlighting a vibrant lineup of local performers selected during a fiercely competitive audition night.

Twelve standout front-of-curtain acts have earned their place on stage at the Town Hall’s celebrated fortnight-long event, featuring a dynamic blend of returning artists and captivating new talent. Selected by a distinguished panel of 40 judges, each performer had just five minutes to make a lasting impression.

The winning performers include Phoebe Weaver, Starstruck, Charlotte Couch, Chantelle Lake, Lianne and Rachel, Fox King Dance Academy, Lianne Vessier, Sammy and Evie, Elysia Harmony, Dulcie Rossiter, The Vixens, and Holly Marshall. Florence and Evie, alongside Samantha Francis, have been named as reserves.

The evening prominently showcased female talent, with Sedgemoor FM’s Bill Bevan serving as the sole male host on stage. Entertainment director Sarah Humphrey hailed the event as “a great show” and commended all participants for their dedication and performance quality.

“Bridgwater truly has an abundance of talent,” said Humphrey. “I encourage those who didn’t make it this time to try again next year.”

For many performers, this selection marks a significant achievement. Tamzynn Williamson, principal of Fox King Dance Academy, expressed the honor of performing: “We dance every day. This is the ultimate opportunity—the chance to dance on stage for two weeks.”

Twelve-year-old debut vocalist Holly Marshall shared her excitement: “I can’t believe it. I’m so happy I got through. It’s my first time doing something like this.”

Returning performer Dulcie Rossiter echoed the sentiment: “I’m surprised and thrilled. There were so many talented individuals auditioning tonight, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.”

Concerts coordinator Anne Middleton praised the exceptional quality of auditions and the deep-rooted carnival spirit in Bridgwater. “The outstanding local talent reflects the town’s rich carnival tradition,” Middleton said. “The judges’ smiles say it all—thank you to all the performers for their hard work. The front-of-curtain acts are crucial—they keep the concerts flowing seamlessly and engagingly.”

The concerts will run from Monday, September 29, through Saturday, October 11, at Bridgwater Town Hall. Tickets are available from the Carnival Centre on High Street or online.
