Bridgwater Carnival 2024: Your Guide to Road Closures, Parking, and Route for Today

The Bridgwater Carnival, one of Europe’s largest illuminated parades, is set to captivate thousands of spectators today. Hosted by the Somerset County Guy Fawkes Carnival Association (SCGFCA), this renowned event is expected to draw crowds from across the UK and beyond to Somerset. Not only does the carnival raise funds for charities, but it also significantly contributes to the local economy.

President of Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival, Dave Croker, expressed his anticipation for this year’s event, touting it as a night to remember with awe-inspiring entries. He commended the dedication of club members and organizers, emphasizing the voluntary nature of their contributions.

To help attendees navigate the carnival, here are some essential details. The procession kicks off at 6pm, following a pre-procession at 5.30pm. Various road closures will be in effect from 8am, with specific timings for reopening. For those driving in, park and ride services will be available from designated locations, running from 2pm to 11.30pm.

Spectators can stand behind barriers along the procession route and are encouraged to donate to charity. Market Street and Mount Street are recommended vantage points, with the best spots filling up quickly. Those opting for public transport can access the town via the Great Western Railway service, conveniently located a short distance from the town center.

Exciting performances are scheduled throughout the day at different locations, showcasing a diverse range of acts and entertainment.
