Bradford-on-Avon GP Surgery Closes Temporarily After Emergency Worker Assault

A 37-year-old man has admitted to multiple offences following a disturbing incident at the Bradford-on-Avon Health Centre near Bath. On the evening of Tuesday, March 17, police were called shortly after 6 pm to reports of damage and assault at the GP surgery and pharmacy.

Aaron Dean James, a resident of Bradford-on-Avon, pleaded guilty to affray, two counts of assault by beating, assault of an emergency worker, criminal damage, and trespass on railway property. Following his arrest, James was remanded in custody and is scheduled for sentencing on April 17 at Salisbury Crown Court, according to Wiltshire Police.

A police spokesperson detailed the events: “Officers responded promptly to reports that a man had caused damage to the surgery and pharmacy at Bradford-on-Avon Health Centre. Aaron Dean James has since admitted to several serious offences related to this incident.”

Due to the damage caused during the incident, the health centre was forced to close its doors on Wednesday, March 18. In a statement posted on Facebook, the practice announced that all face-to-face appointments scheduled for that day were converted to telephone consultations. The statement reassured patients, saying, “We are aiming to reopen on Thursday following repairs.”

Patients affected by the closure were contacted directly to update them on their appointments. The practice expressed their gratitude for the community’s understanding during the disruption.
