Boy Airlifted to Hospital After E-Scooter Accident Near B&Q in Chard

A 13-year-old boy was urgently airlifted to hospital following an e-scooter accident near the B&Q store on Furnham Road, Chard, at approximately 5:30 pm on Tuesday, September 16. Emergency responders were dispatched promptly to the scene after the young rider fell off a stand-on e-scooter.

Thankfully, the boy’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or permanent. His family has been informed and is receiving support. The incident led to the closure of the A358 for over five hours while police conducted a thorough investigation.

Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward. They are particularly interested in any dashcam or CCTV footage that might shed light on the circumstances surrounding the collision. Officers expressed gratitude to members of the public who stopped to assist the boy at the scene.
