Harvey, a brave 14-year-old from Highbridge, is choosing to focus on making unforgettable memories after receiving the heartbreaking news that he has Grade 4 brain cancer. This is a cruel recurrence, as Harvey first battled brain cancer when he was just 22 months old. Now, over a decade later, he faces a fast-growing and aggressive tumor.
Harvey has made the courageous decision to forgo radiotherapy, opting instead to spend his limited time doing what he loves. His mother, Tara Burrows, shared with SomersetLive, “He’s chosen the brave path—not to spend six weeks in radiotherapy when he could be out making memories.”
A passionate football fan and car enthusiast, Harvey will be enjoying several special experiences arranged by the community. Liverpool FC has invited him to attend a game later this month, while Bristol City FC will give him a behind-the-scenes tour of their stadium. Additionally, the local car community is organizing a hypercar and supercar drive-by at Burnham-on-Sea seafront on Saturday, September 14 at 12pm, welcoming anyone who wishes to show their support.

The overwhelming kindness of the community has deeply touched Tara. “It’s magical how people have come together for him,” she said. Still, she faces an unimaginable reality: “My sons shouldn’t have to lose their brother at such a young age, and no mother should have to process this.”
The family has expressed heartfelt gratitude toward Harvey’s school and the medical team, describing the consultants as “incredible”—the very same specialists who cared for him during his first battle.
In these challenging days, the community has rallied to raise funds to support Harvey and his family, with over £5,074 raised from more than 211 generous donations so far. Tara explains, “We’re asking for help—not because it’s easy, but because every bit of support lets us focus on what truly matters: being with Harvey and ensuring he can do the things he loves while he still can. Your donations will help create meaningful moments for Harvey, his mum, and his two brothers.”
Harvey’s story is a poignant reminder of resilience and the power of community in the face of tragedy.
