Boy, 14, Cherishes Every Moment After Devastating Brain Cancer Diagnosis

Harvey Burrows, a 14-year-old from Highbridge, is courageously embracing life after receiving a heartbreaking diagnosis of Grade 4 brain cancer. This marks the second time Harvey has faced the disease, having first battled brain cancer at just 22 months old. Now, over a decade later, Harvey has been diagnosed with a rapidly growing, aggressive tumor and has made the brave decision to forgo radiotherapy to spend his remaining time making precious memories.

Harvey’s mother, Tara Burrows, shared with SomersetLive, “He’s chosen the brave path—not spending six weeks undergoing radiotherapy when he could be out living, laughing, and making memories.”

Harvey’s passions include football and cars. Demonstrating tremendous community support, Liverpool FC has invited him to watch a match later this month, while Bristol City FC has arranged a special tour of their stadium. Car enthusiasts have organized a spectacular hypercar and supercar drive-by on Saturday, September 14, at noon along the Burnham-on-Sea seafront, inviting everyone to join in celebrating Harvey’s spirit.

Tara expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming support: “It’s magical how everyone has come together for him.” She also opened up about the pain her family faces: “No mother should have to face losing a child, and no siblings should have to lose their brother at this age.”

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Harvey’s school and the incredible medical consultants, who have been by his side since infancy.

Since the tumor’s discovery, the community’s generosity has shone brightly, with over £5,000 raised from more than 200 donations to help support Harvey and his family during this difficult time.

Tara emphasized the importance of this support: “We are asking for help—not because it’s easy, but because every bit of support allows us more precious time with Harvey. Your donations directly enable him to experience joy and create lasting memories with his mum and brothers in his final days. None of them should endure this at such a young age.”

Harvey’s journey is a powerful reminder of courage, community, and the profound impact of kindness.
