Radio presenter Greg James has proposed a straightforward solution to a well-known Glastonbury Festival headache: the lengthy traffic jams on the way home.
The 39-year-old took to TikTok to share his thoughts after spending an incredible weekend at Glastonbury 2023 with BBC Radio 1. “I just got home from Glastonbury and I have a suggestion to improve the experience for 2027. Please hear me out,” he began.
Clarifying he wasn’t complaining, Greg said, “It was the best Glastonbury I’ve ever been to – absolutely amazing.” He highlighted his unique experience hosting his Radio 1 breakfast show live from the festival, with many listeners joining him from their tents.

However, his post-festival journey back to London was a different story. Greg revealed it took him six and a half hours to get home, a wait he accepted as part of the Glastonbury experience. But he pinpointed one fixable culprit: the massive traffic slowdowns caused by drivers staring at Stonehenge along the A303.
“Stop looking at Stonehenge,” Greg urged. “You know what it looks like. Everyone stops and crowds the area just to see old stones. It’s boring and causes huge delays. Honestly, don’t pull over to take photos. Stonehenge isn’t going anywhere.”
Many agreed with Greg’s blunt but practical advice. Comments ranged from calls to block the view from the road entirely to humorous suggestions like covering the monument to prevent distractions.
The issue is well recognized by English Heritage, which notes that daily traffic on the A303 causes noise and divides Stonehenge from much of its ancient surrounding landscape. The congestion becomes even worse during events like Glastonbury.
Greg James’ suggestion offers a simple way to speed up the post-festival exodus and get festival-goers home quicker, without losing what makes the journey part of the Glastonbury magic.
