‘Borderline Irreplaceable’ Thomas du Toit Dominates Bath Rugby’s 2025/26 Awards Night

Springbok prop Thomas du Toit was the standout performer at Bath Rugby’s end-of-season awards ceremony, walking away with three prestigious accolades. The South African powerhouse was named Player’s Player, Supporters’ Player, and Forward of the Year, capping off an impressive tenure with the club.

Du Toit, who will depart Bath this summer after three impactful seasons to rejoin the Sharks in Durban, received praise not only for his skills but for his character. Speaking on the Bath Rugby Plug podcast, centre Max Ojomoh said, “What a player. Players like him are borderline irreplaceable. He’s an international-standard tighthead who can also perform at loosehead—such versatility is rare. Beyond that, he’s a fantastic team member and a great person. He’s been outstanding for the last two years.”

Despite Du Toit’s exit, Bath remain well-stocked at tighthead with England and British & Irish Lion Will Stuart nearing recovery from a ruptured Achilles, alongside Wales international Archie Griffin and promising talent Billy Sela rising through the ranks.

Another highlight of the evening was winger Joe Cokanasiga, who earned the Back of the Year award following a solid season. While Cokanasiga scored just four tries, his all-around game—particularly under the high ball and in defence—has soared to new heights. Ojomoh revealed a key factor behind this leap in form: “He had eye surgery between last season and this one. His improvement in the aerial game has been massive—it’s such a crucial part of the contest now. He’s pulling in numbers like Will Muir, and standing 6 feet 4 inches tall, it must be intimidating for opponents to see a Fijian rising above them and securing everything. Plus, he finishes his chances too, which is credit to him. The progress he’s made in the last two or three years, especially with how the game has evolved, has been incredible.”

Among other awards, hooker Kepu Tuipulotu was honoured as Breakthrough Player of the Season, while Tom de Glanville received the Tough to Beat award. Prop Kieran Verden secured the Clubman of the Year title, rounding out a memorable night celebrating Bath Rugby’s standout performers.
