The body of a man discovered washed up on a Somerset beach is believed to be that of Jake, a 28-year-old reported missing earlier this month. Avon and Somerset Police confirmed that although formal identification is still pending, Jake’s family has been informed and is aware of the situation.
The body was found by members of the public on April 19 at Burnham-on-Sea, prompting emergency services including police, the South Western Ambulance Service, and HM Coastguard to respond to the scene at approximately 7:30 pm. Investigations indicate the man had likely been in the water for less than a month.
Authorities have stated that the cause of death does not appear suspicious. Out of respect for the family’s privacy, police have asked the public to refrain from speculation and to give the family the space they need during this difficult time.
