The search for a missing man in Somerset ended tragically on Sunday, May 10, when police discovered a body in the Wincanton area.
Authorities are working to formally identify the individual, but the family of 57-year-old Talmadge, who had been reported missing, has already been notified of the discovery. Police confirmed that the death is not being treated as suspicious.
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson stated, “Officers searching for missing Talmadge, 57, found a body in the Wincanton area yesterday (Sunday 10 May). Formal identification has not yet taken place, but his family has been informed. His death is not being treated as suspicious.”

Talmadge was last seen in Wincanton around 6 a.m. on Thursday, May 7. Authorities had launched a public appeal over the weekend to locate him. Known locally, Talmadge was associated with the Wincanton area and frequented religious buildings, with connections also to Wells, Taunton, and Castle Cary.
The investigation remains ongoing as police continue their work to confirm all details related to the case.
