A BMW driver from Somerset sparked a dangerous police chase after refusing to stop on Dorset’s roads. Officers from Dorset Police spotted a grey BMW 1 Series—suspected of bearing cloned registration plates and lacking insurance—speeding along the A35 Puddletown bypass.
At approximately 9:45am on Sunday, June 22, 2025, police attempted to pull the vehicle over near Bere Regis using blue lights and sirens. Instead of stopping, the driver sped onto the A31, reaching speeds of up to 100mph and driving recklessly for 18.5 miles.
The driver, identified as 27-year-old Sarwar Rasool Mustafa from Chard, dangerously overtook other vehicles, ran red lights, and crossed double white lines—endangering countless road users throughout the pursuit.

Eventually, officers managed to bring the chase to a close safely at Autumn Close in Ferndown, where Mustafa was arrested. He appeared before Bournemouth Crown Court on Friday, December 19, and pleaded guilty to multiple charges including dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving without insurance, and driving without a valid licence.
Mustafa was sentenced to 18 months in prison and disqualified from driving for 40 months.
Police Constable Mark Palmer of the Roads Policing Team condemned Mustafa’s reckless behavior, stating: “Travelling at speeds up to 100mph and overtaking dangerously put many lives at risk. It is fortunate that no one was harmed. The dashcam footage from this incident is shocking. There is no justification for such reckless driving—it could have ended in tragedy.”
He added: “Every driver has a responsibility to themselves and others on the road. We must all commit to making safe, lawful choices behind the wheel.”
