An urgent evacuation was performed this afternoon as a car fire endangered a block of flats in Bridgwater. The fire service received multiple 999 calls at 3:24pm reporting a car ablaze next to the residential complex. Responding to the escalating situation, two fire engines were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the vehicle engulfed in flames, perilously close to the block of flats. Concerned about the fire spreading, the authorities swiftly evacuated the residents as a precaution. The inferno had spread to nearby fencing, wheelie bins, and a bike shed, although it remains uncertain if the flames reached the flats themselves.
Firefighters successfully extinguished the blaze using two hose reel jets and two breathing apparatus. The fire was determined to be accidental.
