Billy Rowley Reflects on Draw with FC Halifax Town: “Just Wish I Was a Little Happier with Three Points”

Yeovil Town manager Billy Rowley expressed mixed feelings following his side’s goalless draw against FC Halifax Town at Huish Park. “There’s not much to complain about, I just wish standing here a little more happy with three points,” he admitted.

The match was a tight contest with few clear chances in the first half. Yeovil improved after halftime, creating better opportunities through players like James Daly, Brett McGavin, and Ryan Jones, but ultimately couldn’t find the breakthrough. “We kinda cancelled each other out,” Rowley said, highlighting the balanced nature of the game. “Credit to our boys for the effort.”

Rowley acknowledged that Yeovil’s finishing and decision-making in attack can still improve. “I like to see us sustain the attack a little longer at times; we were a little rushed with our decision making,” he noted. “Not a bad performance, not amazing, not a bad result but also not great.”

Defensively, the Glovers were solid against a Halifax squad pushing for the playoffs. “Our management team planned the game quite well,” Rowley praised. “Joy Mukena, Fin Cousin-Dawson, Dan Ellison all defended the box well. We got our press decently right.”

The team suffered a pre-match blow when Kyle Ferguson was forced out during warm-up due to a knee knock. “You’ll probably have to wait 24 or 48 hours to see if it swells up,” Rowley said. Despite this, the squad adapted efficiently to last-minute lineup changes.

On a positive note, Jonathon Page made a strong return from injury. “Pagey has got a top football brain,” Rowley said. “He’s always in the right position, offers good angles, and is comfortable on the ball.”

A late scare came when Halifax struck the bar from distance, but Rowley supported goalkeeper Jed’s positioning. “A couple times a season you might get caught out, but if that happens that’s on me.”

Looking ahead, the Glovers prepare to face promotion-chasing York City on the road for the final time this season. “They are ridiculously good and will have a sell-out crowd,” Rowley said. “We are going to go there and try and win and hopefully spoil their party a bit.”
