Yeovil Town manager Billy Rowley expressed his gratitude to the supporters while apologising for a lacklustre 2-1 loss to Brackley Town. Despite controlling possession for most of the match, Yeovil struggled to break down a well-organised Brackley side that capitalised on defensive errors.
“Everything we planned for against Brackley was accurate,” Rowley reflected. “But this isn’t about blaming the players; it’s on all of us. I’ll take that responsibility.”
Brackley took an early lead thanks to a defensive mistake before Yeovil’s Kyle Ferguson equalised with a well-timed header. However, former Yeovil player Ben Wodskou restored Brackley’s advantage just before halftime.

Rowley admitted: “Both goals were errors on our part. One came from poor zonal defending on a set-piece, and the other from a mix-up during a counterattack.”
In the second half, Yeovil maintained possession but failed to translate it into meaningful chances. “I felt comfortable with how the game was progressing, but the final decisions weren’t there. The players began to doubt and overthink,” he said.
Acknowledging his team’s shortcomings, Rowley candidly admitted, “We deserved to lose today. Some of our attacking play and decision-making needs serious improvement.”
He also highlighted tactical issues: “When playing against a low block, you either slow the game down to draw the opposition out before introducing speed, or move the ball quickly side to side. We did neither.”
Despite the setback, Rowley sees motivation and clarity emerging from the defeat. “It motivates me a lot. It will help identify which players want to be part of this journey.”
Yeovil Town will return to Huish Park for their next match against Aldershot on Tuesday—a game Rowley describes as a prime chance to bounce back. “We want to be very strong at home for these remaining 19 games,” he concluded.
