Best Sunset Locations in the South West Named by Auto Trader

Auto Trader recently released a study ranking the best sunset spots in the UK and Ireland, with the South West claiming top positions. According to the analysis of over 50 viewpoints, Durdle Door in Dorset emerged as the premier location, followed by Stonehenge in Wiltshire and Cheddar Gorge in Somerset.

The study took into account social media activity, Google search frequency, weather patterns, and online reviews to determine the top spots for sunset admirers. The surge in popularity of hiking, as evidenced by the proliferation of social media posts about UK trails, has led to increased interest in prime outdoor locations for witnessing stunning sunsets.

Cheddar Gorge secured its place among the top sunset spots due to its impressive social media presence, favorable weather conditions, and positive online feedback. With over 104,000 Instagram posts and more than 59,000 Google searches per month, Cheddar Gorge has become a prime destination for sunset viewing in the South West.

The top three sunset locations in the UK and Ireland, as revealed by Auto Trader’s research, are Durdle Door in Dorset, Stonehenge in Wiltshire, and Cheddar Gorge in Somerset.

Auto Trader also consulted photography expert Tom Fegredo for tips on capturing the best sunset images. Fegredo’s advice includes planning ahead, utilizing the grid feature for composition, using the HDR setting for high-contrast scenes, playing around with exposure, and experimenting with editing apps.

Erin Baker, Editorial Director at Auto Trader, highlighted the growing trend of sunset hikes and the increasing interest in visiting these locations. She emphasized the importance of having the right vehicle for visiting sunset hiking spots, suggesting that the latest car models offer a range of features to enhance outdoor adventures, including extra boot space, off-road capabilities, improved fuel efficiency, and advanced technology.
